Bay Area Bioscience Education Community (BABEC)
South San Francisco, CA
By 2021, we will...
Offer professional development workshops to 300 teachers on topics related to hands-on bioscience - both experimental and career focused.Provide 1,000 hours of in-class, personalized teacher support in the form of co-teaching, guest lecturing, materials management, experimental troubleshooting, and student assistance for our bioscience lessons.
Distribute portable biotechnology equipment, supplies, and reagent kits to 2,000 classrooms that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to engage in biotechnology lessons.
Is there anything else you intend to do to maximize your impact via the network?
Partner with other educators who have expertise in incorporating NGSS more effectively into biotechnology curriculum, because this is a specific need that our constituents have been asking for help with.Coordinate our efforts more closely with school administration so that more teachers become aware of and choose to take advantage of our personalized classroom support.
Use regional educational databases to explore and target areas with both the greatest need and the greatest likelihood of success.
