The Exploratorium Statewide K-12 Leader Network supports a statewide network of teacher leaders and professional development providers, organized by California region. In addition to offering a professional home for these educators, the network offers 1) translating and distilling the NGSS via face-to-face institutes; 2) synchronous, online professional development; 3) peer-based communication tools; and 4) providing free, publicly accessible online resources. We expect to reach 1000 teacher leaders who will in turn reach 23,500 California teachers.

Is there anything else you intend to do to maximize your impact via the network?

Add staff expertise in comprehensive content areas to reflect CA NGSS content (environmental education, e.g.).

Deepen partnerships with CA Dept. of Education and the CA County Superintendents Educational Services Association, and explore new collaborations to increase our value to existing leadership and improvement efforts in science education statewide.

Develop and implement a responsive consulting model that is adaptable to local contexts in order to provide customizable long-term support for districts that reflects their unique structures, staffing, systems, and student needs.
