100Kin10 Project Team: Preparing Teachers for High-Needs Schools (2018)
Updated: November 9, 2018
- Check out a webinar about this team's work.
This Project Team worked to engage in dialogue about strategies to increase the desire within pre-service teachers to serve students in high-needs schools. Members include Kansas State University, Jhumki Basu Foundation, WGU, Cal State Fullerton, Public Education & Business Coalition, USC Rossier School of Education, UCLA, National Science Foundation, and EnCorps STEM Teachers Program.
It is no secret that schools in high-needs urban and rural districts need highly qualified STEM teachers. Their goal is to produce teachers who are prepared for and have a deep commitment to teaching in our nation’s highest-need schools.
This team will brought together institutions, which prepare teachers to be knowledgeable, ethical, and caring decision makers in our high-needs schools. Together, members engaged in dialogue about strategies they have used to increase the desire to serve students in high-needs schools, and how they have prepared teacher candidates for the context-specific needs of schools and students in high-needs urban and rural settings.
