By 2021, we will...
Partner with 65 schools to develop and support effective math teaching practices resulting in equitable outcomes for students.Engage school leaders in 100% of our schools to provide opportunities for math teacher leadership.
Develop a Math Matters Playbook, grounded in stakeholder needs, that will articulate a core set of strategies, aligned with the NCTM Principles to Actions Report, that we will coach teachers to implement in their classrooms.
Is there anything else you intend to do to maximize your impact via the network?
We intend to coordinate our efforts with other professional development organizations to exchange learnings and data about what is and isn't working in achieving equitable outcomes in mathematics for students across New York City, specifically reducing disparities in achievement for Black, Latino and low-income students.We intend to coordinate our efforts with schools to increase the number of teacher leaders focused on improving STEM instruction. We will develop and support at least one teacher leader in 100% of our Math Matters schools by modeling effective planning and facilitation of professional learning.
We intend to evolve our approach to collaborate with schools to identify root causes, develop theories of improvement, and engage in disciplined inquiry to improve math instruction in schools with a common aim, to improve outcomes for traditionally underserved communities. By developing a playbook of instructional strategies, our coaches and teacher leaders will have research-based strategies at their fingertips that can address the identified student learning needs.
